'Holding Cell' Devlog: Event Boarding (Storyboarding)
Project Smile Development Log:
For the event trigger that I plan to do for the demo, I decided to make a bit of planning to ensure that I know what I want each sequence of the trigger to go through.
So I made what I call an 'Event Board'
It's like Storyboard and works exactly like Storyboarding, but instead of sequences of a story, I am going through sequences of an event that's running in real-time.
For this instance, I needed characters to move in the right position and do certain animations, all of which I can do with a couple of existing scripts and maybe a few more new scripts to make for these sequences.
Today, I created 5 Event Boards with a total of 27 sequences. with a sequence being an action of NPCs walking or interacting with the environment. The sample shown is the setup for the event and the 4 different routes that could happen depending on what the player did during the demo before the trigger. I also used this as a way to figure out when the player should not move and lead to either dialogue sequences or a CG scene.
Overall, a good day for planning
